Description
*Please read full description before placing a bid*                                        If you have been looking for a super clean, all original  wood mantle or table radio by Atwater Kent, consider this stunning  model 2D60W.  You are looking at a classic of a bygone era.  Long known for the fine engineering and cabinet making, Atwater Kent radios were the best of the best.  I am offering an original, untouched Atwater Kent  made circa 1933.  Arthur Atwater Kent  (1873-1949) founded his company in 1895 making electric motors, fans and automobile electric and ignition parts.  Featuring a very delicate fretwork on the grille, a nickel-plated chassis and a large eight-inch speaker, the 165 provided the user excellent sound with a beautiful gothic-styled cabinet.  Police calls could be received by switching the combination Tone-Police control to Police.  The radio is in good shape for the age , and retains the factory finish, speaker cloth, and knobs.   In 1921 he began producing radio components and then, in 1923, complete radios.   A victim of the great Depression, he closed his factory in 1936 and went on to found the Atwater Kent Museum in Philadelphia after retiring.   By 1925 his company was the worlds leader.   I will be listing a vintage Atwater Kent Lamp with Shade soon separately,  and I have listed an Atwater Kent #12 Breadboard with advertising sign, and another model #20, so be sure to bookmark my auctions.   I am including many pictures of all of these items, if you require more specific images, please do not hesitate to email me.  PLEASE SEE FULL CONDITION REPORT BELOW AND EMAIL ME WITH ANY QUESTIONS YOU MAY HAVE ON THIS ITEM.   If you are looking for a handsome addition to your collection, please consider this beauty  or one of several other choice condition radios I have listed.  Please email me with any questions.   Be sure to view my other auctions as most are offered with no reserve.
