Description
New Page 1 Up for auction is a working 1920's AMPLION WOOD BELL RADIO SPEAKER TYPE AR-19 in original condition. I purchased this out of the attic of the original owner's home. All I did was dust it off and checked to make sure the driver was good, which it is. It was tested with a 9 volt battery and a Simpson OHM meter and got good continuity on both. The driver, as you can see in the pictures, droops because the rubber seal/O ring has warped, more than likely from the heat in the attic. It looks to me like it would be an easy fix if so desired. Replace the rubber to hold the driver into the bell. The driver's housing is metal, has no breaks and the paint is about 99% present. The metal identification tag is excellent. It has its original binding posts and cord, and the cord shows minor wear to the outer cloth covering, but no bare wires showing. The nickel plated base could use a good cleaning, but I don't see any bare metal showing through it. If it had felt on the bottom of it, it doesn't now - it's missing. The metal neck is in excellent condition, and again the paint is about 99%. This has its original mounting screws and grommets to hold the bell in place. There again, the rubber O ring that holds the wood bell to the neck is slightly warped (see picture). Now for the good news! The ten petal bell has no chips, cracks or breaks, and they are all still firmly attached to the wood dividers which is highly unusual especially coming out of the attic. Some of the light spots you see in the bell are in the wood grain and some are flaking of the finish. There again, probably from the heat of the attic. All things considered, it is in very good condition and I, personally, wouldn't refinish it, but the successful bidder can make that decision. The bell measures 14" in diameter, the overall depth of the speaker is 15" and the overall height is 18". Here's your chance to be the second owner of this hard to find speaker! If you have any questions, PLEASE email before bidding. We will contact the successful bidder within 24 hrs. upon completion of the auction to verify shipping address and method of payment. DO NOT MAKE PAYMENT UNTIL YOU HEAR BACK FROM US. The total will include the final bid, shipping charges, and $6.00 for packing materials AND signature confirmation. If paying by money order or personal check, $3.00 will be deducted from the packing materials as signature confirmation will not be required. Insurance is optional. We ship with DHL or USPS, whichever is the most economical. We also ship internationally (Check for quote). Ohio residents must pay sales tax. I accept money orders, personal checks, other forms of payment (please e-mail), and Paypal, preferably in that order. Checks will delay shipment at least 7 days. Thank you for your interest!
