Description
FROM ONE OF THE MOST COMPREHENSIVE COLLECTIONS OF VINTAGE / ANTIQUE RADIOS EVER PUT TOGETHER! THIS IS ONE OF THE HARDEST TO FIND IT ALSO UNIQUE IN STYLE INDEED, PERHAPS MY FAVOURITE 'WOODIE' OF THE LOT! Extremely sought-after original wooden radio manufactured by 'Plant A' under the marque Silver, who also made one of the genre's 'holy grails' - a wooden circular set which stood proud in my collection with the Wilcox Gay, Detrola Bluebird, Sparton Bluebird, Stewart Warner Good Companion, Radialva Radiobooms and circular Ekcos. This oval model is almost as rare. Dating from 1937, it is just as beautiful. Plant 'A' is somewhat of an enigma to radio collectors. One of the hardest-to-find radio manufacturers, very little information is known about the Company. ****** ANCIEN POSTE DE RADIO à lampes TSF Recepteur des années 1930 The condition is extremely good throughout. The cabinet is excellent, with strong graining. There are no cracks, no breaks, no chips, no dings, no stresses, no hairlines, and no repairs. There are no scratches to mention. The speaker cloth appears to be original, and the fascia presents magnificently, missing a slither of trim. The patina throughout is strong and uniform, and there is no warpage, nor fading anywhere. The unusual dial, pointer and cover are also original. There is a good original back panel. The insides are clean, and show signs of minimal restoration. Good factory sticker underneath. Dimensions: 14.9" x 8.3" x 6.4" GREAT EXAMPLE OF AN EXTREMELY RARE PIECE! Payment please within 4 days by PayPal, or by Sterling denominated cheque, to arrive with 7 days. Other payment methods may be possible with the seller's discretion. I am not a technician, and cannot guarantee completeness, nor the finest details (see caveat below). Kindly closely study the images and the description, and ask questions should you need to. I could send higher resolution images if required. New images are normally just a click or two away, but I have many more. Just send me an email address. Please look at my other auctions. There are are lots of bits and pieces. I plan to selectively list more vintage radios, and radio-related items, over the next few months.... You might like to look at some of my other listings. ********* I'll happily combine shipping if appropriate... and collection from Tunbridge Wells would be fine. UK (2/3 day - DHL - Tracked) - £10.50 - UP TO 25KG Most of Europe* (Fedex - Tracked) - £26 - UP TO 10KG (£36 UP TO 25KG) (*Austria, Belgium, Channel Islands, Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Spain, Sweden) USA (Fedex Priority, tracked, often overnight) - £42 Oz/Japan (Fedex Priority, tracked) - £53 Rest of the World - Check before bidding please. P2Go uses a fairer way of quoting for 'volumetric weight'. It is also considerably cheaper to those far-off places which seem to be crippled with shipping cost, and it is FAR cheaper than the competition - the instransigent Post Office (Parcelfarce, the UK's rip-off service), or any other courier. Inexplicably, Parcelfarce have been known to quote a whopping 3 times more than P2Go's Fedex 'priority' service to the USA through P2Go. CAVEAT: Under UK law, whilst most will work with little effort, I am not a technician, and working condition of my vintage radios comes with no assurances nor guarantees. Thus, before attempting to plug into the mains, ALL electrical items must be checked over by somebody qualified to do so. You might like to look at some of my other listings - some may have sold.
