Description
This is the famous 1937 broadcast microphone 633A “salt shaker” (for its shape) mic first produced by Western Electric and later by Altec. It is a rugged, low-impedance dynamic mic that can be mounted vertically for non-directional pickup or horizontally for directional pickup. It was popular with radio stations like CBS for many years. They are difficult to find complete and in good condition, so this a pretty rare mic. I have not tried this out as I don't have an adapter for it to plug into an PA system. Well good luck. Without the "ring" shown in the brochure photograph, the microphone is omnidirectional, whether vertical or horizontal.
