Description
1939 Zenith AM/SW Golden Racetrack Dial 5-S-320 See Video! 1939 Model 5-S-320 Zenith 1939 Zenith Model 320, 5-tube 2-band radio with a Golden Racetrack Dial This holiday season we're selling a special radio from our personal collection. We've cherry-picked a tabletop model that we've displayed in our living room for many years. This vintage unit is a unique radio that you don't see often. Zenith only offered it for one year. This is a beautiful, 5-tube, 2-band (shortwave and AM) radio with the highly sought-after Golden Racetrack dial in a walnut cabinet. Complete with a 6X5 rectifier, guys! Plus, the horizontal louvered speaker grille really sets this radio off. It would look amazing in an office, a radio station, or your living room. For a dramatic effect, dim the lights, throw a couple of logs into the fireplace, and bask in the amber-glow of the Zenith dial. Life is good! This is one of those rare radios that was built to last for many generations. As far as I can tell, only the electrolytic capacitor has been replaced. This bad boy plays like crazy! It lights up and plays loud & clear on both bands, plus the reception is like a wavemagnet. I also have the Zenith tigerwood 319 with the racetrack dial and it performs exactly the same! You just can't beat a mid to late 1930's Zenith. It was their finest hour. I think the power cord is original (the rubber is still flexible with no breaks or exposed wiring), along with the gumdrop knobs (2 have cookie bites) and original speaker, the pushbuttons are missing. It's very safe to use and it produces a big, thick sound like a tube-driven radio should. The cabinet finish looks like its been re-glued in a few places and some veneer pieces have been replaced on the top. There is some veneer bubbling on the top and some slight splitting, also there's a ring on the top. The decals on the front are not original. But all in all, it looks pretty nice for a 69 year old radio! Everyone knows the drill....because of it's age it is being sold as-is, as-found, no refunds, and no warranty. See our video on this page to view & hear this Model 320. The radio in the video is the one you are bidding on. Press play to start the video -- the first sound you hear is a Canadian radio station on shortwave, I then switch over to AM. Also, I've added a wire antenna (included with the radio). There is a lot of life left in this old warrior and if our very modest opening bid of $99 isn't met, we're going to keep it for our grandchildren. Approximate dimensions: 16" wide X 9.25" tall X 7.75" deep. Shipping weight is 18 lbs. (double-boxed and bubblewrapped with shipping peanuts). Insured up to $100. We will take great care to get this radio to you safely. Buyer pays $28 UPS ground shipping - although we will ship International via Airmail Parcel Post, the cost could be very expensive to your overseas address! PayPal preferred / we answer all email and leave feedback, so bid with complete confidence. 1939 Zenith Model 5-S-320 Shortwave / AM Radio Approximate dimensions: 16" wide X 9.25" tall X 7.75" deep
