Description New Page 1 Up for auction is a 1940 ZENITH CONSOLE RADIO MODEL #8-S-463 in excellent original condition. I purchased this radio from the original owner and it plays beautifully. The owner told me he had it electrically restored a few years ago with a new power cord and all. As you can tell by the pictures, the cabinet is beautiful! The only blemish I could find was on the left hand side of the vertical dark piece that runs on the curved column, not on one of the grill bars. He had darkened it in and it isn't very noticeable as it is in the picture. The rest of the cabinet has some small dinks, mainly on the bottom base boards and some light surface scratches that could more than likely be polished out. Everything on the dial, the glass, pointer, dial itself, pushbuttons, knob, escutcheon, etc.. are in excellent condition. The chassis is very clean and the cone of the speaker has no holes or tears that I can see without physically tearing this apart. When playing, there is no distortion like you would hear with a damaged speaker. The tuning eye is a nice emerald green and appears to function properly. This is one of the best original radios of this model that I have ever seen and you certainly wouldn't be ashamed to have this in your living room!
