Description
This is an RCA Victor Victrola tube radio and turntable. It does not currently work, but still worked about 10 years ago. I believe it could be restored. The cabinet is beautiful and in very good condition. My grandparents owned this in Elk City, OK. There are 4 main knobs, they are labeled: on/off/MM, volume, tuning, PH/BC/SW/FM. There are 3 sets of numbers that can be tuned to which are labeled: shortwave, standard broadcast, and frequency modulator I've been told by another eBayer, "The RCA you are advertising is a 1948 RCA Victor 8V151. It was the top of the line that year, with the "Magic Brain" turntable for 10" 78 rpm records, and a cabinet that I believe is both rich and subdued. The three band radio is fairly easy to service, being retained by only two lower screws, and a pair of "hooks" at the top, with very reliable circuitry. An Armstrong discriminator circuit was NOT used because Armstrong was suing Sarnoff for patent infringement of his FM circuitry at the time. Sarnoff won and Armstrong suicided. The radio has a special three tube noise limiting circuit for hiss reduction which predicts later Dolby design. It is selected at the far right of the lower left knob." I'm not an expert so I cannot verify any of this information, but perhaps it will be helpful to you. This radio is sold "as is" and will need to be restored for it to work. I live about 30 minutes south of Dallas, and this radio must be picked up, I'm not able to ship it. Feel free to ask any questions; however, if they're very technical I probably won't know the answer. I have a feeling this is a real gem of a radio, but I'm just not educated in this area. Good luck!
