Description
Many of my customers celebrate Christmas and include their children's/parents/grandchildren's birth years with these spoons/forks. A perfect way to celebrate and acknowledge each family member and start a tradition. A great way to create memories. This is the 1980 Christmas fork. It features a whimsical modernist design. It is called "The Mask" and was designed by Egill Jacobsen for A. Michelsen. A. Michelsen Christmas spoons and forks were introduced in 1910 and were sold exclusively through the Jensen shops. It is gold washed sterling silver and enamel work. It is in excellent condition. The matching spoon shown in the picture is no longer available. The forks are no longer being made. Many more Michelsen Christmas spoons and forks available. Most are listed in my ebay store. Some may be listed at auction. Click on the moving banner below to see them all.In a write up of this piece, it is said, "Egill jacobsen is one of the pioneers of pictorial art. He helped to lay the foundation for the abstract style of painting which sprang from the new orientation of people such as Klee, Miro, and Kandinsky. The mask quickly became a crucial feature of Egill Jacobsen's pictures. The image is often portrayed in the form of kites flying...."
