Definietely European, probably Spanish or French, from the 18th century or earlier. Note the flowing robes, draped as only an talented sculptor knows how to capture and carve.  She stands almost 6 inches tall. Note the facial features and expression. Note the perfect proportioning of each figure, especially that of the child. There appears to have been a halo and a hand that has long been detached and lost. Madonna's left eye is still painted and from one angle, if you study it, it looks like an actual human face is beneath the hundreds of year old paint and patina.  This statue is both inspired and inspiring. I hate to part with it but I am starting a new business, and passing on this beautiful work of art to a new and appreciative owner is how it will help get a new venture started.
