Description
Antique Pewter Encased 'Rye' Bottle & Stopper A large, antique and really wonderful deep amber glass, pewter encased, 'Rye' bottle, c.1900. The bottle itself is made in a very thick and heavy deep-amber colored glass with a ground & polished pontil on the bottom. The pewter casing looks hand forged, and has acquired a wonderful, deep aged patina. The front has a hammered finish and a large, engraved "Rye" in script. Embossed pewter stopper with cork end. Surprisingly heavy-weight and beautifully crafted. See photos... Additional Info: I have a matching 'Scotch' bottle also listed this week. I do combine shipping, so if you're interested, please see my other listings... Dimensions: 10" tall (including stopper); 4 5/8" wide; 2 3/4" deep Markings: in raised script on the back of the glass bottle (it lies partially under the pewter casing, so it's difficult to read): what looks like, "G & M"? See photos. No markings on the pewter. Condition: Excellent. No breaks, chips, discoloration or cloudiness in the glass bottle. There are a few small bubbles, which aren't very noticeable and are original to the piece. No pitting or damage in the pewter casing and stopper. The cork on the stopper shows some minor aging, but is in very good shape. All payments must be received within 5 days of auction close. If not, eBay will be contacted about non-payment and item will be re-listed. Please, if you have a problem making the payment on time, let me know as soon as possible so we can work it out.Payments Accepted: Domestic (US) buyers: I accept and prefer payment be made through PayPal, although I also accept money orders and personal checks (item will be shipped after check clears, usually about 10 days after receipt). International buyers must pay through PayPal - no eChecks! Refunds & Returns: If you win this item and upon receiving it find my description to be grossly inaccurate, I will gladly refund the full (or partial, if applicable) bid price, minus a 10% restocking fee (this covers the listing cost). Returning buyer pays for shipping & insurance back to me. * Please read description thoroughly and completely and ask all questions prior to bidding - I do not accept returns for reasons other than gross inadequacy in my descriptions. * In order to receive a full or partial refund for any reason, item(s) in question must be returned to me * I must be notified by email that there's a problem within 3 days of receipt - I will not accept returns without this. I'll ship this item anywhere to anyone. International bidders are welcome. Please use the shipping calculator included in all my listings to determine the cost of shipping High bidder pays winning bid plus shipping (see below) and insurance. I don't insist on insurance for all items (for items over $50.00 I do), but even though your item will be packed very well, I strongly suggest it - I can't be held responsible for damage or loss in the mail. Domestic Shipping: I normally ship via USPS Priority Mail (approx. 2-3 day transit time). For heavier / larger items I give an option for USPS Parcel Post (approx. 5-9 business days). I require Delivery Confirmation on every domestic item I send out. This lets both seller & buyer track their item in transit, and gives the Post Office a way to find it should it get lost. Insurance: I use Auctiva Shipping Insurance, which is exactly the same, with the same coverage as USPS insurance. After your payment is made you'll receive an automated email from Auctiva notifying your payment has been received and that Auctiva insurance has been purchased for your item. This will include the amount your item is insured for. Signature Confirmation: The Post Office, regardless of what your item is insured for, will just leave it at your door on arrival. If you would prefer that it be held until it can be signed for, the Post Office offers 'Signature Confirmation' for an additional fee. If you'd like to add this, please let me know prior to paying for your item so I can include it! International Shipping (including Canada): USPS First Class Mail International: For items 4 lbs and under.Transit time varies, depending on the country it's being sent to, but usually a minimum of 10 business days. This doesn't give an option for insurance or tracking, so if you want to insure and/or track your item, it must be sent via USPS Priority Mail International (which is usually more expensive - see below). USPS Priority Mail International: For items over 4 pounds, and for any insured & tracked items. Approx. transit time of 6-10 business days. The fee includes a small amount of insurance based on the weight of the package; additional insurance is available. ***An additional shipping charge of $2.00 is added to all items shipped via First Class International, to cover the cost of additional packing expenses. Multiple Item Shipping: I'm happy to combine shipping charges on multiple wins, within reason. Please Note: USPS recently began charging extra for domestic (US) 'oversized' boxes (length plus girth exceeds 84" or 1 cubic foot), depending on the zones of the sender & receiver. So in some cases, multiple item shipping requiring an oversized box may cost you more than separate shipping! In this case, the best way to ship is Parcel Post (5-9 business days), which doesn't charge extra for the same 'oversized' box. I'll usually send you a choice of shipping options when this is happens... ellen324 Store
