Limited edition, Signed and numbered on the striker. Lost wax cast statuary bronze.  Weight: 1.5 pounds. Size: 4.5" x 3.5" x 2.5"   You are bidding on a rare collectible by California artist Laura Lengyel, shipped direct from the artist’s collection. This finely detailed bronze owl was created in 1989 as an exclusive artistic item for The Nature Company Stores (Discovery Stores), the upscale chain emporium for nature and science-related art, gifts and crafts. The edition of 800 was cast in California and the molds were destroyed. Each cast was hand-finished by the artist’s apprentices and hand engraved with the edition number. Each was individually patina colored with a rich warm brown, with slight variation. The artist sculpted the master model from a live owl at the Rotary Club Zoo at Lake Merritt in Oakland, CA and researched specimens at the Academy of Sciences’ Ornithology collection in Golden Gate Park, San Francisco.
