The corpus and the cross are two individual pieces.  The Corpus is held to the cross by hand carved "nails". The Corpus is carved from a naturally light hardwood, most likely Nogal and the cross is carved from a naturally dark hardwood, most likely Chanul.  The combination of the two colours and different grains lend an additional depth to an already extraordinary piece. ~+~+~+~+~+~+~+~+~+~+~+~+~+~+~+~+~+~+~+~ One thing to note - this will require extra careful shipping and although we don't charge for packing anything we sell, this will require an oversized box which will be more expensive to ship.  We will do our best to keep shipping costs to a minimum, but this piece will require the extra packing to assure its safe delivery! ~+~+~+~+~+~+~+~+~+~+~+~+~+~+~+~+~+~+~+~   ~+~+~+~+~+~+~+~+~+~+~+~+~+~+~+~+~+~+~+~ We have been asked to liquidate a huge collection of Christian religious artifacts (Anglican, Catholic and Orthodox) that were assembled by an avid collector over a period of several decades and from various corners of the globe!
