Dansette MAJOR Record Player 1960s Rare Start Price GBP 19.99 Current Price GBP 52.00 Time Left - Bid Count 12 Buy It Now Price - Reserve Price - Start Time Saturday, November 15, 2008 End Time Saturday, November 22, 2008 Location Redruth See more about 'Dansette MAJOR Record Player 1960s Rare' Description mainecoonsrule store I have up for sale a Dansette Major record player in red and greyI found it at my Mum's when I cleared out her house after she went into the nursing homeI remember this well when I was a child dancing around to our favourite 45's and LP's.  We even played our old 78's on it aswell.  Sorry I could not find any of those nor the old gramophone we had before we got the DansetteI brought it home and after I changed the plug from a round pin to a square pin (just shows how long ago it was since it was used), I got out a selection of 45rpm singles put them on the auto changer switched the player on and sat back and listenedIt still worked!  The auto changer works fine and it switches off when all the records have been playedIt brought back a lot of happy memories.  I remember when my sister and I kept getting told off as we liked to play the 45's at 78rpm because it sounded like 'The Chipmunks'  We also played them at 16 and 33 rpm alsoThe only thing that is broken mechanically speaking is the clip that secures the arm when it is not playing the recordsAlso, I don't know what happened to the lid.  It looks like something was spilled on it or something.  It does not look great.  I don't know if a lid from a non working Dansette Major could be used and this one chucked or whether it can be fixedIf it didn't work I would probably have disposed of it, but it plays beautifully without any crackles or distortion.  I had forgotten how good this was.Perhaps somebody out there will give it a loving home and restore it to its beautiful selfIt has valves I understand and have heard that they don't always travel well.  I will pack it well and make sure the arm is secured.  I use a courier and delivery will be in 48-72 hoursI normally ship worldwide, but I think this would be uneconomical to ship outside the UK Place a Bid!
