It played very well. These exposed tube radios are very attractive. It has 3 good UV-199 tubes. There are no cracks or chips in the front panel. The original knobs are present and turn smoothly, although a bit dusty. The original finish on the cabinet is very good, with some alligatoring and a few minor scuffs and scrapes. The cabinet iself is also very good. It has a factory filled defect area on the right side, as I am unable to find any evidence that the area has ever been stripped and refinished Inside, the radio is very clean. The audio transformers are original. The original purple cloth cover battery wire are very good as are the metal voltage tags. I believe this is the early version with the silvered front tag (slightly tarnished) showing it made by the Radio Shop in Chicago, Long Beach and Sunnyvalle. Later versions of the Echophone didn't have this label. This is a nice radio, so if you are looking for this model, don't let it slip away. As with all antique electronic items, the radio is sold "As Is" and not returnable. Personal checks are accepted, but must clear before the item is shipped out.
