Description
Edison Standard Phonograph With 43 Cylinders It's an early 1900's you can see from the pictures what kind of condition it is in. I'm selling this for a friend at work. He tells me that this was his Mothers , she had it put away. I've been looking all over to see what they sell for, you know like everyone that sell's on ebay does before they put something on just to see what they should ask for it. Well they are hard to find. With all the Cylinders that come with this one, I just couldn't find one. I saw one on ebay which was a Edison Home Phonograph with only 2 cylinders and it went for $1400 this comes with 43. If your looking for the Cylinders they sell for about ten dollars each. I am going to start the bidding at only about two hundred over the price of the cylinders. This is a Edison "Model H" Ser. No. 447895 Four min player I'm told it plays well and everything is there. As far as its condition I'd say 9 out of 10. The lid latches and is really nice. No hardware is missing. It is not damaged in anyway that I can see. Still clean and rust free. Some of the cylinders do not have the paper cylinders they came in, but they are in nice shape. Most of the cylinders do have the paper cylinders they came in. Well thats about all I know. If your looking for a quality phonograph this would be a nice one. You can email if you would like more pictures of it or would like to know something that I forgot to put in this ad. Thanks for looking and have a nice day. This will be packed every well, I'm thinking I will take it to the UPS store and let them do it to make sure it comes to you like it left us. I am sure if you buy this you sure don't want anything to go bad with the shipping. If the shipping is less then am asking I will refund it to you. This so goes with out saying if you live near Cheyenne Wyoming you can pick it up with no shipping at all. Please read the question and answer part of this ad below. As I have stated, I am selling this for someone else. I don't claim to be an expert by any means. I can only tell you what it looks like to me and what was told to me. Please feel free to ask questions before bidding. I will be as truthful as I can be. This is what I found about this. The new 4-minute wax amberol records introduced in 1908 required the Model H reproducer. In design it was very similar to the Model C, differing only in the stylus &: stylus bar. The stylus was of sapphire with the tip in the shape of a button, which was positioned so that its edge tracked the groove. The early stylus bar was of two thickness with the a V-shaped stop to limit lateral movement. Later Model-H's had a stylus bar of uniform thickness and the V-stop was omitted. The diaphragm was of copper. While designed for 4-minute wax amberols, it can be safely used to play Indestructible 2 &: 4 minute records as well as Edison's Blue Amberol records, although sound reproduction will not be as good as that of the reproducers which were designed to play these celluloid records.
