Description
This very early brown wax cylinder is extremely pale tan in color. It may have been produced and sold by a "local" company in the mid-1890s. As best I can make out from the faint announcment the title is "Therese Polka" by W.H. Wygant (?), cornetist. The color is extremely pale, with a very light haze on the surface but no mold and no cracks or chips. It is in remarkable condition. It plays very faintly though fairly clearly with listening tubes, with expected surface noise. The chorus passages are loud and clear. To listen to this recording in its entirety click www.edisontinfoil.com/cylinders/therese.wma. It is in the original box with original cotton batting and lid. The box has an old, illegible pencil notation on the side, and "#18" on the lid. A superb extremely early brown wax record. Free double-boxed insured Priority mail shipping (U.S.).
