Description
Emerson 1950 Model 653 has been recently refurbished with all deteriorating capacitors (including the filters) replaced, and many other items inspected and serviced as well for long term reliability. Bakelite cabinet is in excellent shiny condition without a nick, crack, or scratch (amazing for a 58 year old appliance) and has a beautiful mottled appearance in stronger light that I’ve attempted to capture in one photo. This one looks beautiful in a dimly lit room (see photo) with its sliderule dial nicely lit up from the internal pilot light, and the front lattice work is nicely accented with the gold grill cloth. Radio now plays across the AM band with a nice tone without hum or distortion. The five tubes inside are all commonly found to this day, and can be easily serviced. Loop antenna in fine condition, and an external antenna wire can be connected for distant stations. Radio has its original knobs and hardware fasteners, back panel is in exc. shape, and factory tube layout sticker is still intact on the bottom side. Photos will represent it well, so bid with confidence. Compact set will look great anywhere, and could make a nice present to a collector. Dimensions are 10.5 inches wide, 6.8 inches tall, and 5.8 inches deep from front of knobs to back side; old 6.5 Oz. Coke bottle in one photo will give a better sense of scale. The radio is from a smoke and pet free home and has been refurbished per my description, I’ve shipped hundreds of delicate tube radios over the past 9 years all over the world without problems using the finest packing methods and materials. Check or Money Order preferable, PayPal welcome as well. Please inquire if another shipping method is required or if rate is needed for shipping outside the USA.
