Description
This little radio is so doggone cute, I hate to part with it.  I got it from a Washington DC antique dealer that handles estates, and I have not plugged it in at all since I got it.  Just admired it for the visual appeal.  I could not find a model number anywhere on it, unless it's inside on the chassis---I decided not to remove the back.  The front door has a tiny Emerson radio tag on it, this did not  photograph clearly, but it has no model information on it.  Likewise the larger tag on the back did not photograph clearly, it merely says "designed to operate on AC or DC current  110 volts 25 and 60 cycles  Emerson Radio and Phonograph Corporation New York USA Serial No. 422415".  The cord looks to be original, complete with a taped up repair job that looks pretty old.  Also has the antenna wire still on it with its little fiber winder piece.  There is some minor wear around the screw holes on the back and some minor flaking of the finish, which I tried to show in the photo.  Looking at the top view, you may see that 2 holes have been filled, like there may have been a handle intended to go on here, but the filling and the touch up all match and look to be old, so perhaps Emerson or the dealer did this to satisfy a specific customer or market.  The "dot" is a lens for a pilot light inside to indicate the set is "on" I would guess.  The front and the sides and the inside are all shown in the photos.  The high-relief lacquer all looks to be fine, there is the odd bit of wear and a few stray marks here and there as might happen to anything over the years, and there is some flaking off of the black lacquer at the bottom of one side.  The radio dials and knobs and grille cloth all appear to to intact originals.  If this ever had little felt or rubber feet on the bottom, they are gone now.  As far as I can tell, all of the tubes are original and untouched, I don't see any obvious blank areas inside that would indicate anything is missing.   The little brass latch for the doors looks to be original and is a nice touch, works just fine too. The inside of the right hand door has a small patch where the previous owner had taped on a list of settings for the local radio stations---no missing lacquer but there is the tape residue there that might come off if removed carefully.  Since these photos were taken, I have straightened out the antenna wire and electric cord to aid in packing up the set.  Overall dimensions are 9 7/8 inches wide by 8 3/4 inches high by about 6 inches deep front to back.  The lacquer has some light crazing overall,  and there is an odd notch cutout near the top on the left side (it's about 1/2 inch wide, see photo).  Let me say again in conclusion, I have NOT had this set plugged and I am assuming it doesn't work, and will need a complete go-over before anyone tries it out.  I have tried to be honest and complete in this auction description, but if you have questions please email me.
