Description
*Please read full description before placing your bid* ***   RARE INSERT GRILL FADA STREAMLINER BULLET CATALIN BAKELITE RADIO  *** Offered for your consideration is an stunning all original Art  Deco Fada Model # 1000 Streamliner Bullet Alabaster with Cherry Red insert grille Catalin Tube Radio circa 1945.  John Sideli, in his book, "Classic Plastic Radios of the 1930's & 1940's" said "Truly a classic!  This is undoubtedly one of the most popular and successful radios ever made.  It was a beautiful design that for the first time in the Fada line had a grille as an integral part of the cabinet instead of being a separate insert, as well as having the famous "drop" handle that was subsequently adopted by so many other companies.  Its overall styling was a radical departure from the boxy angular and rectangular form of its predecessors, and it is certainly more Deco in styling than almost any other Catalin Radio.  In fact, it is significant for being the only Catalin model that was made in the classic Streamline style."  This beautiful, working radio is in pristine condition having no cracks, chips, nicks, dings,  repairs, or tube burns now or in the past.   It retains its factory original fluted red catalin knobs, dial bezel, drop handle, insert grill, and chassis.    The chassis is clean and complete and currently playing well, I was able to pick up 3-4 stations.  Classic sleek lines make this a distinctive addition to your art deco office or home decor.   If you are looking for a rare, handsome addition to your collection, please consider this beauty.  Please email me with any questions.  PLEASE SEE FULL CONDITION REPORT BELOW.   Be sure to view my other auctions as most are offered with no reserve. This will help you fully understand the item you are bidding on.   MAKE - Fada   MODEL- #1000, "Insert Grill"   YEAR- 1945   CASE MATERIAL- Catalin, the Gem of Plastics   SIZE- 10 1/2” W x  6” H x 5 3/8” D   CONDITION- This radio is in excellent condition containing no cracks, chips, nicks, dings, repairs, or tube burns, now or in the past. The insert grille, handle, knobs and dial bezel are factory original marbleized red catalin.  The radio retains its factory original cardboard back.  The cabinet has only been hand refinished to its original alabaster color displaying the true marbleization expertly.  This was done completely by hand with no machine sanding.  No tube burn!!!  Very rare not to see some evidence of a heat mark on this model, revealing that this radio was played very little, if at all.    No cosmetic restoration/repair was necessary.   CHASSIS/PLAYING CONDITION-The chassis is clean, complete, and I was able to pick up 3-4 stations that were clear. As a reminder, these vintage catalin radios are not recommended for everyday use, nor should they be played for extended periods of time as that could cause tube burns to the cabinet.   BID WITH CONFIDENCE AS ALL ITEMS ARE GUARANTEED TO BE AS DESCRIBED.
