Description
*Please read full description before placing your bid* Offered for your consideration is an Garod  #6AU1 "Commander" Butterscotch Catalin Tube Radio made circa 1945.  Pristine condition having no major cracks, chips, nicks, dings, scratches, repairs, or tube burns.   This Garod has been professionally hand polished with Novus #2.   Stunning Butterscotch patina on the cabinet with matching original trim.   Only blemish to mention on this 63 year old radio is a small chip on the backside of the grill shown in the top view on the left side.  A small shallow flake surrounding the screwhole there that affixes the grill to the cabinet must have chipped off.  Not visible when on display and in no way detracts from the overall beauty this radio exudes!   All parts are factory original catalin , the chassis is electronically restored and playing well all across the dial.  If you are looking for a handsome addition to your collection, please consider this beauty or one of over 100 other choice catalins, cobalt blue mirroed Sparton, character (Hopalong Cassidy), Themed (New York Worlds Fair), bakelite, and distinctive wood radios I have listed .  Please email me with any questions.  SEE FULL CONDITION REPORT BELOW.   Be sure to view my other auctions as most are offered with no reserve. This will help you fully understand the item you are bidding on.   MAKE- Garod   MODEL- 6AU1 "Commander"   YEAR- 1945   CASE MATERIAL- Catalin, the Gem of Plastics   SIZE- 11” W x  6 3/4” H x 6 1/8” D   CONDITION- This radio is in excellent condition containing no major cracks, chips, nicks, dings, deep scratches, repairs, or tube burns, now or in the past.  Tiny shallow flake missing on the backside of the grill in the upper left corner as shown in the top view picture.  The knobs, grill, and handle are factory original catalin.  The dial scale and cardboard back are also factory original in excellent condition.  The cabinet has been hand polished with a little Novus #2.   Original labels still present on the bottom.  No cosmetic restoration/repair was necessary.   CHASSIS/PLAYING CONDITION-The chassis is clean, complete, and I was able to pick up 3-4 stations that were clear. As a reminder, these vintage catalin radios are not recommended for everyday use, nor should they be played for extended periods of time as that could cause tube burns to the cabinet.   BID WITH CONFIDENCE AS ALL ITEMS ARE GUARANTEED TO BE AS DESCRIBED.
