In honor of its 50th Anniversary, Grundig commissioned this special classic 960 Anniversary Edition radio: a replica of the Original 1950's best selling radio, the Classic 960, known throughout the world for its fine styling and superb audio quality. This vintage 960 radio originally sold for $249.95! The Model 960 doesn't scrimp on sound or features. The analog tuner offers great accuracy, with a smooth operating tuning dial matched to an easy-to-read frequency indicator. Volume, bass, and treble thumbwheels are arrayed on the front of the cabinet. The three-inch (3") side speakers on the left and right of the radio are paired with a four-inch (4"), front-firing speaker to reinforce the radio's bass response and fills your listening room with glorious Grundig sound. It all adds up to rich, room-filling Hi-Fi sound!     What's in the Box: Model 960 Radio, AC adapter, and owner's manual. This special 50th Anniversary Edition faithfully replicates the dimensions and styling of the original Model 960, and while many replicas retain the look of the original, they often scrimp on materials and workmanship - this is not the case with the Model 960. The radio's cabinet is made of solid wood, finely polished with hand-painted trim. The speaker cloth is a remake of the original fabric. All decals are made of solid brass - and the gold-tone, illuminated dial and knobs are accented with solid brass too. In a bow to modern sensibilities, the Model 960 does feature an auxiliary input stereo line-in jack for connecting a CD player, TV, DVD, VCR, or any other "modern" external device (sound only via 2 (left & right) standard RCA type connector). Listening to shortwave stations on the Grundig Classic 960 is done just like it was back in the 1950's. Best results are in the very late afternoon and at night with a long-wire antenna attached to the back of the radio. Although this antenna is not included, one can be readily found and purchased for under $10 on the Web or at your local electronics store.
