Description
This is a highly collectible pewter plate, one several that I will be listing, from my mother's estate, is most likely of British origin. The piece has an embossed marking of what appears to be a griffin, flanked by two classical columns, topped byu the British Royal Crown (as pictured in the photo). Underneath the intaglio is the maker's name, Danforth. From the research that I have done in Pewter in America by Laughlin, this seems to suggest that the plate was made by Joseph Danforth. It measures 7 7/8" in diameter and it is in excellent condition, considering it's age. Successful buyer is responsible for shipping and insurance and payment must be received within ten (10) business days of the close of the auction or the sale may be voided. Thanks for your interest and good luck! On Nov-24-08 at 21:23:15 PST, seller added the following information:
