Description
Contact me first if you have less than 5 bids before bidding. I combine shipping where possible to save money for you. You are bidding on an original, authentic (not a CD, not a later reprint) 1924 issue of the fabulous British radio/hi-fi/tube electronics magazine Wire Less World and Radio Review. This complete issue has a lot of really neat articles and extremely cool adverts for very early British valve/tube radio equipment, plus broadcast gear, hi-fi gear (of the age, I guess it was not real high fidelity in 1924) and related items. This issue is truly historic for the following: 1. "An Account of Some Experiments in Television" by J.L. Baird himself, the great British inventor John Logie Baird. The article describes 'a good deal of popular interest has been aroused by experiments in Television recently conducted by Mr. Baird. The following article describes some early apparatus used by him, and results obtained.' From what I can find, this is the FIRST time his television work appeared in a major periodical. He did not unveil his project until 1926 in public, so this is very important as an early look at his work. His last statement in the article: It is possible that at some future date means may be discovered of sending out energy from a point A, bringing it to bear on an object at a distant point B, and causing the object to radiate from its surface energy which, penetrating intermediate obstacles, can be brought to a focus at A, rendering it visible. This would be radio vision in a very different sense. If you are a television museum, or a private collector, you should have this ORIGINAL publication from 1924 in your collection. You get the entire, complete issue (NOT a reprint!) from 1924! Try to find another one. In good condition for the age, complete, a bit of tape on the spine for support, but for age, not bad at all. I combine shipping if you buy more than one thing. I'd rather you save the money than give it to the post office. And yes, the post office did raise their rates a bit. Check my auctions for many, many great books about 1) Tubes and Tube Electronics; 2) Tube Pro Audio Gear; 3) Western Electric and RCA gear; 4) and everything else that has to do with tubes and electronics! Shipping is $4.80 for Air in the USA, or $12 via Air overseas....$10 to Canada. Check my auctions for great items like this! No Reserve! Check, money order or my favorite, Paypal. Not responsible for items once they leave here...but they make it 99.5% of the time! But if it gets lost, it ain't my fault! All sales final unless I misdescribe something. Overseas is fine. Check my feedback, the buyers are happy. For what it is worth, I have owned a vintage, tube based analogue 24-track studio for over 20 years...and yes, the vintage, tube and discrete electronics DOES sound much better than anything else! Learn all you can about vintage tube gear, it keeps going up in value!
