MAGNIFICENT BAVARIAN NEO-BAROCQUE MONSTRANCE  Munich, ca. 1850 Height: 22 inches (55 cm) From the homeland of Pope Benedict XVI, from the golden age of the Wittelsbach Dynasty, a masterpiece of the Munich goldsmiths: An original antique large, massive and heavy Bavarian silver/gold-plated Monstrance with many fine details.  Just impressive: The Barocque foot and the cross on top are decorated with crosses formed of an original pearl and four semi-precious stones (amethyst and citrin). On the foot a basreleif depicts the crucifixion of Christ with Our Lady, St. John and St. Mary Magdalene standing beneath the cross, with Jerusalem in the background. The main piece has three levels: The first, lowest one, consists of magnificent gold-plated sunrays. The second level is a filigree silverwork representing wineleaves. Th top level is surrounded by sunrays again and surrounded by twelve colourful rhinestones. The Monstrance is in perfect condition, ready to be used for a Eucharistic Veneration.
