Description
A Very Nice Griswold No. 9 Cast Iron Skillet Cover! (Low Dome #469B, cast with two distinctive patent dates...1920 & 1925.) Used and cared for by the previous owner, this skillet cover is quite clean and ready for cooking, seasoned to a dark patina with no heavy carbon build-up. There are no cracks or repairs, and there is no warping from excessive heat. All lettering and markings are very clearly cast and easily read. Just under 11 inches across from outside of drip at bottom edge...side to side, not including pour spout covers. The photos accurately show the Nice condition of this lid.I was advised to mention a few details that are inherent to the age and casting methods used but may be of interest to a collector. This skillet cover needs very little attention to be ready to use as noted above, yet may need to be re-cleaned and seasoned to fit ones special criteria for show if this to be its purpose. When examining the surface area very closely, there appears to be a few small places with the possibility of very light rust visible through the seasoning, and there is also one minor casting anomaly on the top-side rim at what I will say is 11:00 O-Clock. Please see photo of top-view and 2 close-ups...one from above and one from directly underneath this exact location, (no evidence on the underside). I hope this is helpful. Please ask if you need more information. This is one of a number of Original Griswold items recently discovered at a local farmhouse estate sale, all of which I hope to list in the coming weeks. Thank you for looking!Item will be shipped UPS or FedEx ground whichever is less expensive and any balance in the shipping/handling fee will be refunded to buyer.
