Payment | Checkout | Shipping | Policies OLD TIN CHILDS ALPHABET PLATE Click to View Image Album  Click to View Image Album  Click to View Image Album  Click to View Image Album  Click to View Image Album  Click to View Image Album  Great - Old - Child's Tin Plate with Nursery Rhyme and Alphabet   The center of the plate has illustrations from the nursery rhyme "Hey Diddle Diddle" - with the border having the entire 26 letter alphabet with the & sign.   Just for fun and for those who don't remember:  "Hey Diddle Diddle"   "HEY DIDDLE DIDDLE THE CAT AND THE FIDDLE THE COW JUMPED OVER THE MOON THE LITTLE DOG LAUGHED TO SEE SUCH SPORT AND THE DISH RAN AWAY WITH THE SPOON"   All the characters are portrayed in the center - they are a little hard to see in the pictures.   The Alphabet letters are approximately 3/4" each.  The inside of each letter has been highlighted with a line of small dots - as decoration.   The plate has a rolled edge with an  embossed or slightly raised design and border.   It has acquired a very nice patina - over the years.   This adorable child's plate has been part of a private collection for the past 25 to 30 years - and has been in storage for the last 15 years.   We would date this from the late 1800's to early 1900's. No marks were found as to maker or country of origin.   If you like the Old Tin - this is a great piece!   CONDITION: Very Good - old - used   No splits - cracks - dents or repairs were found. Virtually no damage - some minor traces of rust in a couple of spots - which could possibly wash off. We did not attempt to clean it any better than just with soap and water - leaving it for your discretion.    Seamless construction - with rolled edge.   Please remember this is - "Not New and Not Perfect"   It does show some wear - from age and use.   SIZE: Approximately 8 -1/2" diameter X 1/2' high Has a 1/4" top rim- edge - with a 1" band containing the alphabet and a 6" diameter center section.   SHIPPING: Weight for shipping will be for 1 -1/2 lbs. - including the box - paper - bubble wrap and peanuts.
