Description
OLD FRENCH FARM COPPER WASH BASIN EARLY 1900's This is a very nice OLD French farm wash basin. The basin is copper with a tin lining. It is in very condition for being from the early 1900's.It is from a French farm outside of Chateau neuf du Faou,Brittany,France. It is totally hand tooled. The wash basin would sit on a grate over an open fire, when the water was hot,it was removed to a metal or sometimes wooden stand for use.The base of the pot is black from the soot of the wood fire. The copper is in very good condition as is the tin liner. The basin is 7.5" high and 14" across at the top. Today in Brittany and Normandy,France......you see these old wash basins with plants growing in them, usually in the courtyards of the farms.I have many French friends living on farms and they really know how to improvise with the old pieces of copper!!! This is a lovely OLD wash basin......from the early 1900's French Farm Copper! A very nice find..... Thank you for looking...
