A lovely item, this bowl is thought to be in excess of 80 years old, and is decorated with Hand engraved designs. When firmly rubbed around the outer rim with a wooden stick, it produces a nice ethereal sound which slowly develops as the vibrations increase. The bowl is of spun, hammered and hand engraved brass and is in very good condition for it's age, with a beautiful patination to the surface. The decoration is in the form of hand engraved panels of interesting complicated foliate designs with dancing figures of Indian gods. The bowl is totally hand engraved, even the base is decorated. It measures 5 3/8" in diameter by 2 1/2" high. These bowls are usually used as a focus point for meditation, the sound vibrations inducing a peaceful atmosphere and clearing the mind. They are found in many cultures and can also be used filled with a little water to modify and tune the tone produced. This is a nice unusual example and I will enclose instructions for using this bowl in the package. It is possible that I have a spare sounder, if so I will enclose it with the bowl, but cannot promise as I need to locate it in the house, and we are still in process of unpacking since our recent move.
