It is a Type B, made by Automatic Electric. The face is a black steel, and the case steel. The mounting brackets attach to the wall or bulkhead. The case itself is only a few inches deep. One of the neat things is the locking mechanism. To lift the handset, you need to flick the nickel lever to unlock it. Great for use in rough seas! Nice condition! Yes, some sloppy paint, but it can clean up. I have not tested this, but it likely works. Most of these old Navy phones can actually be used with a POTS (plain old telephone system) line, as found in everyones house. I have a few spare parts from the insides available.
