Description
Contact me first if you have less than 5 bids before bidding. I combine shipping where possible to save money for you. Here is a one-of-a-kind Richard Dimbleby item that should really be inside the BBC Museum. You are bidding on a one off BBC 16" transcription record dated December 1, 1947, in which Dimbleby, then of the radio department of BBC, but soon to become the UK's most loved TV commentator, inteviews Ms. Eva McGown of Fairbanks, Alaska about her long trip from Alaska back to her native land for a visit. Very, very interesting, and Dimbleby is at his charming best. The record is in good shape, and still sounds wonderful. The disc says Origin: BBC PW, not sure what that means. Somehow the disc was sent to KFAR radio in Fairbanks where it was played for the local folks. It starts on the outside, and is about 13 minutes long. A copy of this is in the University of Alaska Fairbanks museum, but this is the original, which I found when cleaning out some old KFAR items that they no longer needed. This really ought to go to the UK for the BBC or Dimbleby museum. This 16" record is in very good shape.  Shipping is $18 for Air in the USA, or $22.00 via Air overseas....$20 to Canada.    Check my auctions for great items like this! No Reserve! Check, money order or my favorite, Paypal. Not responsible for items once they leave here...but they make it 99.5% of the time! But if it gets lost, it ain't my fault! All sales final unless I misdescribe something.  Overseas is fine. Check my feedback, the buyers are happy. For what it is worth, I have owned a vintage, tube based analogue 24-track studio for over 20 years...and yes, the vintage, tube and discrete electronics DOES sound much better than anything else! Learn all you can about vintage tube gear, it keeps going up in value!
