Description
You are bidding on a Pink Starlite Rotary Telephone manufactured by Automatic Electric.  The Starlite phone is a unique competitor to the Princess Phones.  Its rectangular shape provides a masculine alternative to the curvy feminine design of the Princess.  The Starlite series is superior to the Princess in some of its features.  Unlike the thin shell of the Princess, the Starlite case is a thick, heavier plastic which is not susceptible to the cracking Princess phones suffer from.  The Starlite is a heavier phone and does not slide off your desktop or night stand when you pick up the receiver.  Most importantly, The Starlite phone DOES light up!  In a superior design to the Princess Phone, the Starlite dial uses a "space-age" electro-luminescent ring with a three position switch (off-low-high) on the side of the phone to activate the night light feature.  (Take a look at the picture of the lighted dial!)  Unlike the Princess Phones, Starlite Phones never need a replacement light bulb.  To light the dial face, the Starlite phone plugs directly into a 110v wall socket with an original equipment transformer I include (see it in the picture!) manufactured by Automatic Electric.  These transformers are HARD to find.  Without one, the Starlite would just be another old rotary phone...  In addition, to preserve the nostalgia of this phone, it includes the original very long pink line cord converted to a  modern modular phone connector (RJ11) making this phone "Plug and Play."  This phone was popular in the 1960s and 70s and does show signs of its age, with some scuffs and scratches.  The shell does show fading due to its age and the vulnerability of old plastics.  However, this Starlite has been thoroughly cleaned internally and externally, and has been polished to shine brightly.   This phone is a lovely antique and would be a great addition to any retro/vintage decorating, or as a Christmas gift.  Shipping is $12 in a USPS Flat Rate Priority Box to anywhere in the US.  International buyers must eMail first for a shipping quote.  Insurance is optional and must be paid by the buyer. (I pack with bubble wrap and packing peanuts!)  Please wait for eBay invoice before paying.  Payment must be received within one week of winning.  Good Luck Bidding!
