This is still a hardwired piece of equipment, so all components are soldered to a very rigid chassis. The type of this radio is B5X04A. The radio is in near mint condition. The cabinet is made from waxed wood and with a early 60's look laminated plastic on top. The chassis is very clean (looks like it always has been in a non smoking environment). The radio features stereo playback from an external source, such as a CD player, crystal pickup, or tapedeck that can be direcly attached via the commonly available DIN connector. No pre-amplifier needed (as with modern amplifiers, you do need a phono preamp for MD or MC cartridges). A DIN to RCA plug can be supplied if you have trouble finding one (costs 6 Euro / 10 US$).There are 4 different radio bands: long wave LW (150-260 kHz), middle wave AM (517-1622 kHz) and short wave SW (5.9-18.2 MHz), and also FM (87.5-100 MHz). These are selected with the ivory white push buttons. These radio's are very sensitive on both AM and FM reception. For AM there is even a ferrite antenna built-in. Of course also an external antenna can be attached.To help with tuning a brand new EM80 magic eye is installed to give you a visible indication of the tuning. All other tubes are Philips tubes.The amplifier is built around 2x EL84 and ECC83 tubes. The speakers are 7 inch dual cone AD3700AM speakers with alnico magnets, these are the smaller version of the AD3800AM. Tone control is done via 3 push buttons, mono/stereo switch and a balance dial.There are 10 tubes in total inside this radio: EZ80, ECC85, ECH81, EF89, EBF89, EAA91, ECC83, EL84, EL84 and EM80. No semiconductors.The radio will work worldwide: voltage settings for 110, 127, 145, 165, 220 and 245 V AC 50/60Hz are provided on the mains transformer. It can easily be adjusted by turning the dial. The radio measures 22 x 25 x 55 cm in size (= 8 x 9 x 22 inches)Please look at all the pictures below. The radio is in near mint condition, both internally and externally (see also the pictures), but of course has some small normal signs of use since it was built in 1960, which you can see from the pictures. One of the external speaker connectors at the back has some damage, see the picture, but that does not have influence on the workings.
