I will be listing several items from my personal collection, representing some of the highest quality, hard to find phonograph items that have become available in quite a while. I know of only one or two other of these rare variations of the Berliner reproducer. This is an early variation or experimental form of the American Berliner reproducer. As you can see, the rear housing is the same as all other early Berliner reproducers. It is stamped with the correct, American information. However, the front cover is not the normal cover, but a slender ring. With this arrangement the glass diaphragm is exposed to see. Obviously, this was foreshadowing of what was to come with the Eldridge Johnson New Century Reproducer, then the Concert, and Exhibition Long throats. Each of these exposed the glass, then later mica diaphragms. Besides being extremely rare, the reproducer itself is in excellent condition and plays really well. It has the correct glass diaphragm and has been tuned. The nickel plating is excellent. It looks and sounds wonderful. Take a good look at the pictures. I have a very reasonable starting price on this very rare item. In fact, my starting price is what you would expect to pay for a regular Berliner reproducer. This one is just stunning!!
