DATE:  1956MANUFACTURER: Sony , Japan The Sony TR-72 was Sony’s second transistor radio and production started in 1956. That year Sony made a deal with General Distributors of Canada (Gendis) who started to sell Sony products in Canada. The models that were made in the first two production years of this TR-72 did carry the Gendis name besides the Sony and the Tokyo Tsushin Kogyo name. This one here is one of these examples. The front says transistorized (later models says 7 transistors). This example here is in very good to excellent cosmetical and working condition. There are no major flaws whatsoever. Check the pictures here at the left to see the great condition of this highly collectable, early transistor radio. Also the working condition is great, with very sensitive reception and strong volume. The radio operates on 3 D-cell batteries.
