Description
Hi Everyone, thanks for visiting our auction. Joey has done it again with this really nice radio, you better get them while we are still restoring them – we are writing a book on TransOceanic restoration and only doing these so we can take pictures and remind ourselves what should be in the text; once we finish this book, that’s it, no more radios from us. We are trying to sell down our inventory, I am trying to retire from radios, and we are almost done selling down our inventory, but because of the book, Joey is back on Trans Oceanics; he is the best at it, started it all 10 years ago and has done over 600 so far. He is the one everyone tries to copy, our website www.zenithtransoceanic.com is the standard for “how to”. (nothing for sale on this website, just step by step pics of our typical restoration. But no one else I know of has our experience and range of skills needed to do a perfect job. Please check out our other auctions, too, bookmark us as a seller, we should have T/O’s most every week from now on and for a while and I will listing our parts and unfinished projects, I don’t have time to do anymore. OK, here is a very nice restored Trans Oceanic radio, model B600 , 1959 to 1962 model year, all restored electronically and cosmetically and ready for a new home. I don’t mean a little restored – this is our absolute best work, it does not appear restored, it appears new. We are the people for T/O’s and we are the only people with no questions asked money back guarentee – if you aren’t pleased in every way, just return it. We can do this because we know you will love the radio, it is the finest example of one of these you will ever see. We are quitting radios, and I am done restoring mine, just selling unfinished inventory as projects now, Joey’s are the T/O’s and we are writing a book on restoring them. We are just restoring some last radios while we photgraph and write descritions for our boook, and that is the radios we are selling right now, when we are done, we are done, so if you want one or more of our restored t/o’s, now is the time! Because these are photoed for our step by step parts of our book, we have gone way beyond even our norm to insure that every part is done our best, you will not see better work than these. Ok, The B600 was the last TransOceanic tube model - after this model they were transistorized. Everything to this set is in excellent condition. My son Joey has done a nice job on the cabinet – this is a total restoration, it has been re-upholstered! Luckily, original style black stag Tolex material is still available, using original pieces as patterns, we recover them exactly as original. Joey has gotten so good at this, you cannot tell it is a re-do, it appears as new! Read some of our feedback, we have a lot of happy customers. Joey polished all the brass to bright and shiny. This has a very good plastic face, none of the regular stress and shrinkage cracks no spidering of the plastic or paint, one of the nicest and brightest and clearest 600 panels we have had. Joey has professionally polished all visible plastic surfaces, it is one of his fortes, you have to see one of our sets to see how nice they can be when professionally polished. All the plastic is excellent and polished bright and shiny. Both antennas are there and in good condition, the 5 foot high telescoping antenna locks down as it should and releases and telescopes as it should. The wavemagnet restored nicely. Joey showed in some of the photos the wave magnet mounted to the carry handle. This is so you can rotate the antenna instead of the whole radio to get best reception. It is also intended to use for RDF (radio direction finding), and as funny as it seems, it does work well. Also allows you to bring in stations stronger by aiming the antenna at em. The original manual and log and time zone wheel in the lid are complete and in good condition. Ok, the tubes in this are all Zenith brand tubes, just like when it left the factory. They are either new old stock tubes, or slightly used tubes that test as new. The chassis has had all the electrolytics replaced with new production parts and all the paper film capacitors have been replaced with modern polyesters. All the voltages on all the tube pins were measured with a digital meter and any changed value resistors were replaced.. All the moving parts have been lubricated and the electronics carefully re-aligned to factory specs. I use a LARGE analog meter to see the changes as I am aligning, and with the large meter I can see the smallest of changes. On any one adjustment it isn’t so important to be perfect, but when all are perfect it makes a noticeable difference to sensitivity. Radio works very well on all bands. There is a “D” battery installed that runs the pilot lamp when you switch it on. The cord retractor reel works well too. OK, this set comes with an original owners manual and hang tag and our reproduction owners tag. The radio now looks and works as new – sensitive, selective and loud with good tone. Batteries for portable operation are available on Ebay if you should want. This is a nicely restored and excellently performing example of a radio gaining in popularity daily. OK, if you are in another country, there is a factory 220volt conversion module available, I have several in stock and can fit it for an extra $100. Joey is the best there is at restoring T/o’s, over 600 under his belt, and we are only doing a few more, we both have other interests now. Thanks for looking at our auction. I will pack safely using all new packing materials and boxes. Figure $35 packing/shipping/insurance.. Please consider this packing/shipping/insuring charge when you are bidding..
