Description
Ciao Ebayers, we have just returned from a whirlwind trip criss-crossing Italy searching for more fabulous treasures to present to you on Ebay. On this trip we discovered some spectacular Italian Religious Artifacts for you. This week our glorious group contains a large ornate Monstrance and Ciborium, a Neo-Gothic Thurible (Incense Burner), a fabulous portable Tabernacle, an Altar Chalice, a Church Statue Crown, Navicella (Incense Holder), Holy Water Bucket with Sprinkler, and assorted Sacramental pieces. Please check our other auctions for each of these items. We have included a Group Photo with each listing so that you can see the Group together and get a better idea of their relative size. We have not attempted to clean or polish these pieces; we offer them to you as we found them. IN THIS AUCTION we offer an impressive 11 ½ inch (29 cm) Grand and Glorious Antique Italian Altar Ciborium. The generous bowl of the Ciborium is 5 ¾ in diameter by 2 ¾ deep (12 cm by 8 cm) is gold plated both inside and out. (Please see Photos) A Maltese Cross sits atop the Ciborium’s lid, covering the striated gold and silver plated bowl. In keeping with the impressive structure of the bowl, there is an oversized pedestal base. The exterior of the bowl has been decorated with delicate matte bands in the gold plating. The rest of this piece is made of Silver plate which has six bands of various designs that have been struck into the lid, stem and pedestal base. These striking markings add to the brilliance of the Ciborium by catching and reflecting the light.  Although in very good condition, the silver and gold plating do show some signs of wear – all in keeping with a piece of this age. We think this glorious Ciborium (Pisside) will grace any Altar setting. Return it to the Church for many more years of Liturgical use or add it to your collection of Religious Artifacts. In case this is the first time you are checking with us, we are Americans currently living and traveling in Italy searching for unique items, which are designed and created here in Italy to present to you on Ebay.
