Sentinel 284 NI Oxblood, Wavy Grill, Catalin Tube Radio Start Price USD 9.99 Current Price USD 338.00 Time Left - Bid Count 16 Buy It Now Price - Reserve Price - Start Time Wednesday, September 03, 2008 End Time Wednesday, September 10, 2008 Location San Leandro, California See more about 'Sentinel 284 NI Oxblood, Wavy Grill, Catalin Tube Radio' Description addpix Store Sentinel 284 NI Oxblood, Wavy Grill, Catalin Tube Radio Description:SENTINEL 284 NI CATALIN RADIO!!Circa 1945, this is a Sentinel 284 NI Catalin Radio!Before describing this beautiful Working radio, I want you to know up front that some restoration is needed....and I have provided many photos to show you all the detail.This is the Sentinel Oxblood accented by Butterscotch model.As you can see...all of the surfaces have exquisitely marbleized!The radio is 11" wide, 7 1/2" high, and 6 1/8" deep.The radio plays perfectly...loud and clear and pulls in stations with no problem!Everything is completely original on this radio....knobs, wavy grille....everything!All we have personally done is wipe down the surfaces.The issues in need of restoration are as follows, and there are close views of these areas shown.The tuning plate and glass are missing.The grille cloth either needs to be cleaned or replaced.There are two cracks:One is on the catalin strip just above the grille, right side. This is actually a break, as the two ends are separated. Holding them flush, it is obvious that no catalin is missing, so this might be a relatively easy repair.The second is a crack that is on the lower left side of the radio. This runs underneath and extends about 2" onto the bottom surface. This one is actually not all that noticeable, in my opinion.Lastly, and this might not even be an issue, but the butterscotch grille is not attached. I don't know if it was originally glued in or what...but this doesn't seem like much of an issue to me.Outside of the above mentioned issues....I sure don't see any other imperfections on this radio!Based on the research I've done....there are folks out there who do catalin repair and looking at some before and after photos...do a job that makes it difficult to even see where the repair was done!In perfect condition...this particular radio would be quite valuable, mainly because of the color and marbelization qualities......SO....This is a good chance for you collectors to get a great deal on this beautiful, working Sentinel 284 NI Catalin Radio!!  I often receive additional information and/or questions about my items so be sure to check back as I add any new information to the auction page, thanks!
