Description
The original listing was ended because several specialist collectors identified this recent attic find as a hand driven tinfoil phonograph and suggested that it should be re-listed as such. It weighs 22lbs or 10kg and the measurements are: Base: 20 x 11 inches. Machine: 15 inches wide overall. Metal drum: 3 inches wide x 4 inches diameter with grooves and a slot cut into it. Apart from the number 24 which is stamped on various parts of the mechanism I have been unable to find any maker's name on it. Cash on collection from j25 of the M1 Derby/Nottingham is preferred otherwise U.K. mainland DHL delivery will be £10.00. PLEASE NOTE: I will only send goods outside the U.K. by secure means which require a signature on delivery and this will cost £35.00 to the following E.U. countries, Austria, Belgium, Channel Islands, Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, £75.00 to the U.S.A./Canada and £125.00 to Australia or Japan. MY TERMS OF SALE ARE AS FOLLOWS: All items are sold 'as is' and 'as found' therefore ask all questions before bidding and the end of the auction as all sales are final with no returns. IF YOU ARE NOT PREPARED TO ACCEPT THE AFOREMENTIONED TERMS THEN DO NOT BID AS THERE ARE NO EXCEPTIONS.On 20-Aug-08 at 21:46:34 BST, seller added the following information:I should have said "several specialist collectors identified this recent attic find as a London Stereoscopic Company hand driven tinfoil phonograph" as being the reason for re-listing this itemOn 23-Aug-08 at 22:55:01 BST, seller added the following information:Whilst it has been suggested that this is a London Stereoscopic Company machine I can make no claims as such and leave it up to those with more knowledge of these things to decide.
