Description
According to Look for the Dog, An Illustrated Guide to Victor Talking Machines: "when equipped with either the rigid or tapering tone arm, the "Monarch Junior" model was referred to by the company as a "Victor II", although before 1909 the dataplate was stamped E". The example here for sale is all original and in un-restored yet remarkably good condition. The two spring motor was designed to play five 7-inch records or three 10-inch records on the 7-inch turntable. The horn is in very good condition with original nipper dog decal which is in fair condition. Oak case is beautiful with no splitting or chips that I see. Original gold filigree on rear bracket supporting tapering arm is in great condition. The tapering arm and Exhibition reproducer are in very fine condition with some very mild pitting; and the arm, elbow and fittings have some minor spots of rust (see pictures). This is a beautiful Victor--with very little restoration this rare machine will be spectacular. Good luck bidding.
