Description
Vintage James Dixon Cornish Pewter Hammered Jug c1920's Description Vintage Hammered Tudor style Pewter Jug This pewter jug has a slightly raised plain base and start of bowl, then a hammered pattern design set in twelve ridges, followed by plain, then hammered, then plain shape up to pouring spout. Curled ornate handle. The size of this just is 4.5" wide including handle by nearly 4" in height. The maker's mark on base says that it is Cornish Pewter made by James Dixon & Sons, Sheffield, pattern no. W1703 1/3. Holds 200ml or 8 fluid ounces. James Dixon & Sons originated in 1806 and around 1927 registered the name Cornish Pewter due to its popularity and origin of pewter material.
