Chicago, Il. 1927-29     If you are considering this telephone set you probably already know that it is just about the nicest set Western Electric ever made. While it was preceded by the A1 and then replaced by the 202 within a couple of years of being introduced (1927), the 102 is a beautiful and very collectable telephone set. This one has been paired with a rare small Oak Ringer Box with TEA BELLS. Don’t be confused by any reflections or dust that may show in the photos. Both the ringer box and the telephone set have no flaws and are beautifully refinished.   Manufactured for slightly more than 2 years, this set is equipped with a WE #4 dial  ( Heavy Brass finger wheel and party line laminated dial plate) that is nice and smooth. The  E1 Handset receives and transmits clearly. The telephone has been beautifully refinished but the Bakelite handset has been polished and buffed (not painted), displaying its original luster. The bottom covering is new suede leather and the cloth covered cords are replacements. All of our refinished telephones are glass bead cleaned, professionally prepared and painted with state of the art equipment, and baked in a commercial drying oven for a superior finish. They are tested for ringing, transmitting, receiving, and electrical performance on a BK Precision telephone analyzer prior to shipping. Dials are cleaned, point lubricated, and adjusted to industry standard ( make/break@ 60% and pulse @ 10pps) on speciality equipment designed exclusively for that purpose.
