Description
This wonderful Western Electric D1 202 Desk Telephone is fully reconditioned and guaranteed to work. IF YOU WANT A BEAUTIFUL WESTERN ELECTRIC DESK PHONE, THIS IS IT! It was totally taken apart, cleaned, polished, refinished, reassembled, and thoroughly tested. It was made in the 1930s for the Bell System. It is a model 202. It is marked D1 and USA on the back. This is the anti-sidetone version that provides great transmission quality. The handset is an E1 made of bakelite and is in beautiful condition. The handset says TRADE MARK, WESTERN ELECTRIC, REG. US PAT. OFF., E1, MADE IN USA. It has the 1930-40s transmitter capsule for excellent sound quality. This phone is NOT A REPRODUCTION! It is the real thing. The nice brown cloth cords and the number card on the dial are new. The nice suede bottom cover is original. The base has a nice baked on semi-gloss black finish like the original. The finish is PROFESSIONALLY APPLIED, not a shiny spray can job. It is marked D1 USA on the back. The dial is a WE #5 that makes that wonderful clicking sound when you dial. The dial says WESTERN ELECTRIC USA on the bottom. The anti-sidetone 634 subset (black box) contains the ringer, coil, and capacitors and has the same baked on finish as the phone. The subset can be placed on the wall or under the desk, table, or anything else that the phone sits on. As mentioned before, this phone is fully functional and ready to use. Just plug it into any standard modular jack. To make a call, pick up the receiver, dial the number, and talk. To receive a call, pick up the receiver after hearing the old bell ring, and talk. This is a great old telephone! Telephones like this, reconditioned and functional, have sold for well over $600.00 on eBay. My reserve is less than half of that.
