Description
If you are interested in collecting military gear from WW II, here is one of the finest sets made by Hallicrafters in the era. This is the famous Hallicrafters SX 28 A classic .Military designation AN GRR-2. These radios were famous in their day for rugged construction, reliability, stability, ease of use and last, but certainly not least LOOKS! They just have a great military, yet period deco appearance. This one has survived its' 60+ years in remarkable shape. The chassis is unmolested, above and below decks, doesn't have any corrosion, has mostly original parts with some few caps replaced up at the front of the band switch. The face is perfect as are all knobs. If you know these radios, this is usually not the case! They are quite heavy and when they were serviced and laid on their face, the knobs got broken, dented, scratched, etc.. Same goes for the case and especially the deco side molding trim. This radio's case has the original "crinkle" with a pro applied light black coat added to bring out original luster. The side moldings are also original and fine. Even the bottom of this radio is pretty. In short, it's about as good as they get. It also comes with a copy of TM 11-874 instruction manual which is dated 22 November, 1944. Please note: This radio is quite heavy, 78 lbs. net, gross will probably be 88 lbs. with double boxing. Please allow shipping for this size parcel in your budget. Fair starting bid and no reserve on this item. Satisfaction guaranteed. Buyer pays shipping/customs. We know how to pack! See our other auctions for more cool stuff! NOTE This is the same radio that was at auction last week. The winning bidder chose not to buy for the following reasons: There are slight chips in wrikkle paint on side of case these are covered with aforementioned charcoal overspray. There is also a small repair to left rear deco moulding at rear endof cabinet appx 1 1/2" long. The Meter does work, mechanically and electrically(full deflection in off/xmit) but doesn't deflect well when tuning(bias adj?) Finally Recption is fine on all bands except hi gest freq.21-54 mc.where recption appears weak to non existent. SO!! We ,at consignors request are relisting at a lower starting price. Moreover this is still an excellent looking set and would make a great addition to any collection, and if new owner is experienced in Hallicrafters/radio work....so much the better! It can surely be brought up to prefection performance. E Bay LUCK! HERE,AS REQUESTED ARE PIX OF "CHIPS IN ORIG FINISH/TOPCOATED"Buyers please note! Keep an eye on our auctions. We have recently acquired a large collection of pristine gray Collins S-line, Drake TR line ham gear, transmitters, receivers, transceivers, and accessories. Also, some dandy and pristine boat anchors by Hallicrafters, National, RME, Collins. You may e-mail with questions. Our refund policy is simple. If you are not satisfied with your purchase, you may return for full refund! The only conditions we specify are careful repack, preferably returned in our packing materials and that item is in same condition as when sold.
