Description
Here's a very interesting and highly collectible example of an early WW II communications/navigation receiver. This is a Scott model RCH. It's literally built like a battleship. The face is a casting with all of the lettering raised and milled! It has a miraculous set of gears driving some of the smoothest flywheel tuning I've seen. Range on the radio is 90 kc to 23 mc in 5 bands. Given the tube complement I would guestimate this design precedes WW II and was employed as a known reliable receiver, early on. This one is in very good condition, considering it lived on a boat! Inside it's 100% original, no mods, extra holes, etc.. The chassis does have some light discoloration from its' prior residence, but it does not have rust or corrosion. The case is complete and has no extra holes, dings or dents. It could use a repaint as some of the black wrinkle has chipped up. There is no rust underneath, but copper plating does show.....I guess this is a good thing! Face is excellent, including original signal/log chart. Dial is good. All knobs are original. As mentioned all lettering is good, as it's virtually indestructible! This radio does have its' original shockmount. This is most often missing. Radio works fine. It's quite heavy, guestimating about 75 lbs.. This item is working when sold. All antique items, however, sold as is. This should be taken into consideration for shipping. Fair startiing bid and no reserve on this elegantly built set. Satisfaction guaranteed. Buyer pays shipping/customs. We know how to pack! See our other auctions for more cool stuff! We do our best to describe these vintage items, which must be sold as is. However, if you are not satisfied and need to return an item, we request that it be returned in our original packing and in same condition as when sold. Buyers please note! Keep an eye on our auctions. We have recently acquired a large collection of pristine gray Collins S-line, Drake TR line ham gear, transmitters, receivers, transceivers, and accessories. Also, some dandy and pristine boat anchors by Hallicrafters, National, RME, Collins. You may e-mail with questions.
