Description
This is an interesting military tankard named to an airman of the RAF or a soldier. The tankard is glass bottomed and marked leadless pewter. Made in England to the bottom. However, what makes this tankard interesting is the inscription to the front. It is engraved: ACI. W.H. Staford Best Wishes From The Maharajah of Jodhpur Xmas 1942. There is also a coat of arms beneath the recipients name and a signature (presumably the Maharajah's beneath the from). I think it may be possible to trace the recipient of the tankard from his name and establish if there was a particular reason for the presentation of the gift. Its nice to have a researchable WW2 item because medals are unamed and impossible to trace on their own. The engraving is difficult to picture but I've tried below. The tankard is in excellent condition with no damage and minimal wear. Hopefully the picture will help people judge, but if there are any questions - Please ask. Please note the postage quoted is for the UK only, and that I can only accept payment from overseas via Paypal. Thanks for looking. Powered by eBay Turbo Lister
